Post #10 Date: 8/30/16 Activities: Final Reflection Technical Information: Internet Reflection: Looking back at everything I have experienced during this internship, I couldn't be more ecstatic. When I first learned that I needed to apply for an internship for the summer, I knew I wanted it to be something that could really help me in the future. I wanted to find a place that related to film in some shape or form. After weeks of looking online for one I came across North Carolina Theatre. Soon I got in contact with the Development Director, Melanie Doerner, and we set up an interview date. When the day finally came, boy was I nervous. I felt like I was alone in the real world and that it was time to show what I was capable of. The interview went extremely well and right then and there I was told that I was now an intern for NCT. At that moment I had no idea what amazing events and opportunities were in store for me. Being the only high school student in a group of college

Post #9 Date: 8/30/16 Activities: Grant Video Technical Information: Internet and iMovie Reflection: Some major problems/ frustrations that I have experienced in my work is that I would set a date for when I wanted to have something completed and then not achieving it. In cases like this it was clear to me that it were faults of my own that led me to not being able to complete the tasks on time. The way I bounced back from this though was just communicating with my Development Director that I would need a little more time to finish and it was typically okay with her. Communication is key when it comes to situations like this and that's something I found to be very important.

Post #8 Date: 8 /30/16 Activities: Grant Video Technical Information: Internet and iMovie Reflection: While working here i’ve learned that I thrive best in an environment where creative ideas are accepted. Whenever I had an idea and shared it with the interns or the development director I never felt as if my ideas were being disregarded. This kept my creativity going and because of this I was able to produce great work. This showed me that I want to have a career where I'm free to execute my creative visions. I don't want to ever feel like I'm limited to doing someone else says. I want to make things my own.

Post #7 Date: 8 /30/16 Activities: Getting ready for show Technical Information: Internet Reflection: This experience affected my plans by showing me a portion of the behind the scenes action that takes place in order to run a successful show. If it hadn't been for this internship my knowledge about the fund development area wouldn't be what it is today. You have to make sure that everyone who donated to your cause gets some sort of benefits and you have to make sure you keep in contact with them because you never know when you will need that again. Therefore, it taught me another side of networking as well. I still plan on going to college and majoring in mass communication and journalism to study film specifically.

Post #6 Date: 8 /10/16 Activities: Creating a poster acknowledging the donors Technical Information: Microsoft Word Reflection: In the beginning of the internship I was given a small load of work, nothing too complicated. But as the time progressed I was given more work and I had to practice managing my time when it came to the tasks given to me. Some things that I was given to do had to done before the completion of others. Overall it enhanced my time management skills.

Post #5 Date: 8 /10/16 Activities: Grant Video Technical Information: iMovie Reflection: My main contribution to my internship is my creativity and experience with making videos. Out of all of the college interns here, I was chosen by the Development Director to create the 2016 Grant Video for North Carolina Theatre. This served as sort of a final project for me. By the time the internship came an end I presented my video to the Development Director and some of the staff. They were very impressed with what I had created and it made me really proud of the work I had done.

Post #4 Date: 7 /10/16 Activities: Continue to work on the invitational Technical Information: Internet Reflection: This internship is definitely meeting my expectations/objectives. Coming into this I had high hopes of gaining experience in the theatre industry. This is important because in the future I am going to be a film director and it's eye-opening to see what extra work goes into pulling these shows off. I do believe I am in control of the internship meeting my expectations. The reason for this is because it's up to myself to make the best of everything presented to me. It's one thing to come here everyday and go through the motions but to really pay attention to everything and choose to take it all in is completely in my control.

Post #3 Date: 7/4/16 Activities: Creating an invitational Technical Information: Internet Reflection: My classroom experiences have prepared me for this internship more than I would’ve thought. I was surprised when my first task was to make an invitation because to me, that is something I don’t find challenging. It didn’t hit me until I got recognition for the outcome of the invitation card that my skills that I posses can actually be used in the work field. This built my confidence in the abilities I have. Prior to the internship, I wish I would have learned how to mail merge because that is definitely something they do a lot in the fund development area to send out mail to a large amount of people.

Post #2 Date: 6/30/16 Activities: Work on Intranet Technical Information: Internet Reflection: The work atmosphere is comfortable and cooperative. It’s a medium size office area where the adults who actually work here have their own cubicles. You can hear pretty much all conversations unless it is said in a whisper tone. The walls are painted yellow with portraits of musicals and plays that have taken place here hanging up. I sit at a table with other interns and we all have our own specific jobs to work on. I enjoy this because if I need any help I know I can ask them and they will help me out. Also, it makes me want to work harder because I’m around others who are doing what it takes to succeed. The dress code is business casual. Some days I will wear and dress and other days I will wear jeans but with a nice dress top. I always aim to dress nicely though. The organization has very great work ethic. Everyone is doing what needs to be done to deliver a wonderful exp

Post #1 Date: 6/20/16 - 6/29/16 Activities: Work on Intranet Technical Information: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Mail Merge Reflection: North Carolina Theatre's (NCT) main purpose is to preserve the unique American art form of musical theatre. Also, they are driven to provide broad access to the arts and to entertain and engage diverse audiences. Three missions the organization thrives on is to feed, fortify, and foster. Feed the spirit of local citizens by providing exceptional theatre productions, using the best national, regional and local talent. Fortify the cultural vitality of the region by offering broad access to live theatre, while strengthening economic growth. Foster the next generation of artists and leaders who will become future patrons of the arts through training, performance, and outreach programs. As an intern, I will be exposed to all aspects of nonprofit fund development, such as special events, grant writing, database management, the annual fund
